Include() / require ()

Has anyone had trouble with including or requiring a file with an absolute url, using a non www url such as http://extra.domain.com/code_snippit.txt --- I did for about month, and then suddenly, accessing the file failed. On the same machine, I'm using require() under a normal www domain, and they work fine. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks

What do you mean by "normal www" domain? There is no difference between domain names such as:
http://www.dogs.com/
http://greatdane.dogs.com/
or
http://www.greatdane.dogs.animals.com

The "http://" specifies the protocol to be used for the request, defaulting to port 80 for http "get" requests. The rest are just domains and sub-domains for the DNS to resolve the IP address to send the request to.

The "www" in a domain name has no more significance than the "greatdane"; both are just the authoritative, lowest level domains whose DNS should return the IP address for the page you want.

If the include stopped working, chances are that the URL you are referencing is no longer valid. Try keying it into the location field of your browser to see.

I agree with you totally that there is no difference in domains.... but it's the only difference I can find. I can bring up the .txt file I'm including in the pages in a browser, so it is available. But, after two months of it working, it just stopped and is giving a fatal error. I have about 8 domains on this box, and 2 out of those are www.domain.com..... the rest are sub-domains. The 2 primary domains are working fine in calling the includes file....the files that call an include file from a subdomain (http://extra.domain.com/text.txt) are getting a fatal error. Again, it's the only difference I can find, and it's the second time it's happened to me. I was calling a .txt file as an include on another box with a subdomain, and after some time of working perfectly, it no longer works... None of it makes sense to me... I guess I was fishing for someone who may have experienced a similar problem. Thanks for your reply...
