"session_start()" problems.PLEASE HELP!!

I always have problems on the "session_start()" line in any script. I am just learning so I download scripts and toy with them. all those I have downloaded have an error on the start session line and say the they can't openup or create "/tmp/some odd number"

Have I just not enabled an option on my server? Or have I screwed up every code I've downloaded? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

(for windows)
go your php.ini and look for
session.save_path
that is the where the variables will save make it something like this
session.save_path = c:/windows/temp
and restart your webserver
for *nix leave it "/tmp" it should work 🙂

Ryan,

PHP stores session information in the /tmp/ directory on Unix/Linux, so it is vital that you have permission to write to it. Check with your host that you have permission to write to it.
