refreshing page from iframe??

I have a page which queries a db to determine what details e.g $id - to show in itself and what data eg $id - to query within the iframe.
My problem is:

The iframe refreshes frequently, querying the first id details. When the id changes in the iframe to the next id , i need to also refresh the main page again to reflect the new $id and details.

How do I force the main page to refresh itself based on the data received in the iframe?

I have looked at jscript forums but no answers...

found it....

echo "<script language=\"Jscript\">";
echo "parent.location.href = \"javascript:history.go(0)\";";
echo "</script>";

makes main page refresh...
