List box with multiple select- HOW ?

Hi,

I want to collect some data from a user form and inside these fields I would like to put a list box where the user can select more than one ITEM.

My problem is:

how can I get out which are the selctions ?

I have make some tryes but only the last selection value seems to be returned.

Is it possible to set more than one default value for this kind of boxes ?

Hi,

you will have to name your 'select' element something like myChoice[].

The '[]' part denotes that this is an array.

You can then access the array, and check which elements was selected.

Do what Rolf says but also don't forget multiple in the select tag.

example:
<select name="mycoice[]" size="1" multiple>
<option value="1">choice 1</option>
<option value="2">choice 2</option>
<option value="3">choice 3</option>
<option value="4">choice 4</option>
<option value="5">choice 5</option></select>

Remember also (this may obvious!).

The array will only contain the items selected with the list. Simply populating the list will not populate the array.

If you are passing all items within the list through to a php page, you need to ensure that all items within the list is selected. You can do this using some javascript just before the page is submitted.
