passing values without submission

What is the easiest way to pass a value to another page without sending it as a hidden input?

I understand how to pass variables using hidden inputs, but that's only passed when you submit the data.

I'd like someone to be able to follow a hyperlink and still have any information that they had entered be passed along as well.

Either you use cookies, or you pass them by URL..

Or you can even register session variables.

All methods have limitations on the amount of data you can pass along..

But I guess the easiest way to do this is:
