Display any word entered in a search?

From a web form that contains one field, how do I get results to
display from any of the words searched for?

EXAMPLE: Say they enter "salsa" and also "layered". What is sent from the
form using the get method is:
salsa+layered.

I would like the results to display all files which contain either
"salsa" or "layered". (Or any amount of entered words, like a
commercial search engine)

The SQL statement I have is below, and I see clearly why I don't get
the desired results:

$sql = "select * FROM track_descriptions WHERE description LIKE '%$find%'";

I am sure this has been addressed somewhere on the site, but not
knowing what to call it, I am unable to find it.

why not do this:

$arrKeywords = preg_split('/\s+/', $strSearchText);

then loop through $arrKeywords and generate your where clause:

where field_tx like '%%' and ...

Thank you for the help. This will point me in the correct direction.

I must admit though, it looks a lot like something hanging over a frat house to me at this point.

I probably will be able to figure it out now that I know what I am looking for, hopefully. :-)

hmm. try this one:

$bla = "salsa+dip+more+words";
echo "select * FROM track_descriptions WHERE description LIKE '%".implode("%' OR description LIKE '%", explode("+", $bla))."%'<br>";

the drawback are spaces which might occur in the searchstring. but it's a good start... 🙂
