I have a table that containes news articles. These articles are sorted by "date" when they are displayed on my news page. THey also have a field called "top" that either contains a "1" or a "2". If the news story has a "1" in "top" then I want it to act as a Top news story and be listed at the top of the news all day long. When that day is over, I want it to resume its place in the news, and/or at least stay where it's at in the order of news and let the NEW news for the NEW day start appearing on top of it since it's now a day old.
I've tried MANY different variations on this:
SELECT * FROM news WHERE recno > $i ORDER by date, top DESC
this is whats currently there:
SELECT * FROM warnews WHERE recno > $i ORDER by top asc, date desc, recno desc
But that displays all the news in the correcvt order, but anything with a "1" in top sits at the TOP no matter what day it is...HELP! 🙂
