Inserting html tags into forms

I\'m developing a newsposting script and would like for the users to be able to insert different html tags into the textarea without typing it themselves. What I mean is that they should be able to just click a button or a hyperlink and then insert for example two tags for bold text.

Can php do this ? or do I need a javacript ?

You need to use a Java Script and DHTML .. PHP can not do these ..

Hi Kelly,
PHP is Server side Scripting, you can't do anything with PHP on Client side.
You have to use JavaScript for that.
