Order by quantity

Firstly, thanks to everyone for the help last time.

I now have another problem:

I have a table of scorers that will look something like this:

Poyet
Poyet
Ferdinand
Rebrov
Ferdinand
Rebrov
Carr
Poyet
Doherty

How would I create a list of top scorers to look like this:

Poyet 3
Rebrov 2
Ferdinand 2
Carr 1
Doherty 1

Put them all in an array.
$array = ("Poyetet","Poyet","Ferdinand"...);

$count = count($array);
cpt = 0;
for ($i=0;$i=$count;$i++)
{
for ($j=0;$j=$count;$j++)
{
strcmp($array[$i],$array[$j]
if ( $array[$i] == $array[$j])
{
cpt ++;
$array[$i] .= " " . cpt;
}
}
}
