eliminate special character

Hi,

Here is my scenario. I have a lot of forms on my webpage. After the applicant submit first page, the applicant will goto second page which will verify the forms. The applicant is required to press the submit buttton to goto third page. The third page will call the C program and put all information to the database.
I use the CGI-technique to transfer the information from page 2 to page 3.
Now, if the applicant put the special character like ` (back quote sign), then the process from page 2 to page 3 fails.
Is there anyway to eliminate the back quote sign?

look at ereg_replace().
also, at times I find it easier to use chr() to generate some characters.
