Are you sure you can't break out of a loop? Can't i call a function that checks for a keypress, and if there is a keypress it leaves?

not unless you have a magic wand that can circumvent the laws of php.

perhaps if you explain what this loop is, what it does, and why you need to be able to stop it, we can find a solution to the problem that doesn't involve said magic wand...
