the issue is: I need to get the current time in a variable...

How can I do this?

I dont' understand nothing about timestamps, GMT and other things.

all I need is the hour and minutes....

You should be able to use the date() function and get the hours and minutes.

You can use an "h" or "H" to get the hours
and then use "i" to get the minutes.

Something like:

$MyTime = date("h:i");
