Is there a way to send some ESc/P codes to a printer with PHP?

I tried bit it dnt seem to work well..

    PHP is a web scripting language.
    Why would you want to send control codes to a printer from a webpage??

      because im programming an intranet with PHP and we have to print on bills. but with our type of bill. so i need to send ESC/P codes to the printer!
