fetching varchar from MS SQL Server

Hi,

my operating environment:

MS Windows 2000 Advance Server
MS SQL Server 2000
PHP 4.0.4pl1
(i must not upgrade my PHP yet, most of my apps are using this version as of this moment)

question:
when trying to fetch a varchar (size 8000) from my DB, i only get 255 chars of data.
how do i get all 8000. should i change from varchar to text?
i used mssql_fetch_array... i already tried mssql_fetch_row. but the same thing happened.

Yes, varchar is limited to 255 characters, text isn't.

thanks! i just like to comment on this, i just hope they fix this one, since the field size is defined in the DBMS that's running the table and that varchar size vary to different DBMSs.
