Need help writing a calendar

Hi folks !

I´m trying to write a calendar for my company where everybody kann add and view appointments.

The only problem is that i don´t know how to get the number of days a month has...

Can someone help me here ?

how are you setting your calendar up? I am going to be doing something similar.. perhaps we can share some code along the way... I'm converting a lot of code from ASP to PHP..

Hi !

I got the idea of writing the calendar when i saw LowCal on freshmeat.net. On the LowCal-HP there is a link where you can see their calendar in action :

Basically that´s what i want to do but I want to make more concise and I also want to add some design elements to it.
The users (intranet) will be able to add and modify entries in the calendar. The description of the entry will appear in a popup-window (not on a new page like the people of mntango.org do it)

Technically i will use PHP and MySQL (what else ? 🙂).

I would certainly appreciate any kind of code / hint exchange and i am looking forward to hearing from you !

Just wanted to give you a status update for the calendar project. I am still stuck with the "how many days does a month have"-problem and I am still hoping to find a hint anywhere in the net. Meanwhile i will start with the database design which isn´t going to be too complex, ´cause, hey, it´s just a calendar...🙂 Anyway, ideas are certainly welcome ! I will send you the structure of the DB, as soon as it is done. It may take me a couple of weeks, though, as the calendar isn´t my main project at the moment...

If any of you has some new ideas, please keep me informed.

Well getting the number of days in the month is easy with the date() function

First make the date with mktime(). then get the number of days in the month using

date("t", $MadeDate);

On a side note, my calendar is coming along just fine and I'll post the code when it's done.

Yes, the fact is the PHP's date/time functions and their components are MUCH more advanced than ASP's. It took some hairpulling to learn the differences but it finally worked for me.
