onchange (this) using php

I am wondering if it is possible to use javascript

onchange="function(this)"

to run a php script or how to achive the same result using php.

This will work but the page will need to reload to run the php script. You can use php to set up javascript arrays and then have javascript run the function without reloading the page, but I guesss it depends really on what you are trying to do.

Or perhaps you could have a hidden frame that is refreshed with the javascript onchange. The hidden frame could be a php page, could have it's parameters passed in the url and write out a piece of javascript that changes a variable or form field in the main frame. All technically possible if you don't mind the frames, but I've never done it in practice, it might be too slow for your needs.
