Menu Links using php?????

Hi guys

I need some serious help here!

I am a complete newbie to PHP - I have just installed a Vbulletin and thats about as far as my php experince stretches which is nothing really!

Ok - here is what I want to learn to do.. I have designed a webpage (non framed) with text menu links on the side of it - How can I use php so that I do not need to keep repeating the links on everypage? This should also allow me to update links in one particular page and this would inturn reflect the change on all the other pages as far as menu links are concerned.

Please be gentle with me and guide me. Im not new to HTML. I can make very good webpages but I want to enter the fantastic world of php now 🙂

Try a require() or include() statement (see www.php.net for details).

Place one of these statements at the beginning of your code referring to a program containing your menu code and you should be set.

or a regular include file in html.

That requires SSI (server side includes) to be turned on in the web server. Most virtual servers have that off by default; in case someone runs into that not working.

Can you guys be more specific and give me detailed instructions - I have no idea how php works and the above replies are very basic for a newbie like me 🙁
