HTTP_GET_VARS and multi-value parameters

ok, lets say I have a url:

"test.php?a=1&a=2&a=3"

inside test.php $HTTP_GET_VARS says that a=3, $a says it is equal to 3 etc.

Now I understand that this is the way arrays work in PHP, but is there any way to get around that?

'a' might be the name of a multi-select listbox; how am I going to know what was selected?

I also thought about splitting the querystring myself... but then whats the point of GET_VARS & POST_VARS ?

If you don't want to use the php-array method using the brackets, then you'll have to split the query string.
The HTTP_POST_VARS and HTTP_GET_VARS hold all the different vars from the POST and GET method. Key word here is 'different'
If you sent the same var 5 times, how is PHP supposed to know which one you mean?

jaja, i hear you 🙂 You see I come from an ASP background (actually I'm busy porting our ASP code libraries to PHP). Things just work a little differently, I guess. I gave up trying to fight the system and decided to go with the [] for variables that may have multiple values. So it's not the end of the world after all.
