PHP Page

I need some help in creating a php website. I will try to explain as best i can. Imagine a website with a header, footer, small menu (left), and a main page (right). Well the header, footer and menu will remain the same on each page. The the main section of the page will vary acording to the url.

EXAMPLE: my.com/index.php?viewpage=5425
This loads a page with stuff in the main table. eg Hello World

EXAMPLE: my.com/index.php?viewpage=2318
This loads a page with stuff in the main table. eg Bonjour

EXAMPLE: my.com/index.php?viewpage=8405
This loads a page with stuff in the main table. eg Send Email

my.com/index.php
But This loads the homepage.

I want to other all template of the site to run from a templates.html page so that its easy to update without messing in the php codes. I want to be able to add page with ease and not be messing arounf adding new commands to the script.

i'd do something like this:

include("global/header.php");

include("global/menu.php");

if (isset($viewpage))
{
#connect to the db
#select html from template_table where id = $viewpage

echo $template_contents;
}
else
{
include("index.php");
}

include("global/footer.php");

?>

this way the common components are stored in one directory ("/global"). if no page is specified the /index.php page is loaded. otherwise it pulls the requested page from the db and shows that.

Er ... if you've never even made a PHP page yet you have some work to do.

Go through some tutorials, get PHP set up on your server, write some <?php echo "Hello World!";?> programs and then come back to your idea. I think you're trying to run before you know what legs are.

Your comment "But I Don't Know How To Make A PHP Page" caused me alarm that you were taking so large a step.

My suggestion is that you take each piece by itself and solve problems that arise.

Brandon Schnell gave you some code to work with. I would reccommend you go through it and figure out what it does and what it suggests. Then start cooking up some of your own stuff.

Looking back over Brandon's script, it looks like he gave you just about everything you need for what you asked. It's in there.
