timed removal

Hi it's me again!

I have a site that when people enter details about something in a form it takes a time stamp and then they enter in a text box the removal date. This is then saved into a mysql database and when the date that was entered into the box is reached it is removed from the database and the email address that are associated with it are email to with a removal notice.

My question is, is this possible if so does anyone know what the code is.

Yeah, every time you run the script, do a select on all records where the removal date is < time() and send an email to the emails in the returned records. Then, do a delete on those same records.

The time it takes to do all the processing might make for excessive delays for the unlucky user who comes along after a long period of inactivity (and thus his instance of the script finds lots of records to email and delete.) So you might consider using a cron job to trigger a script at regular intervals.
