strstr()

Hi all. Im learning more functions thanks to this site and php.net so now im recoding my user registration system to block bad words and such.

Im finding this to block the actual word, for example "@!#$" but I tried with "shithead" and it went through, im using:

	if (strstr("bitch cock cum cunt dick @!#$ pussy @!#$ slut whore ass wh0re queer fag sex penis vagina webmaster admin administrator operator oper moderator","$username")) {
		$register_error = "This username is not acceptable, try something more mature.";
	}

If you could point me out to the function or method of catching similarites or wildcards id be greatful.

Your code will only detect exact matches of a username to words in your list.
I would create an array out of objectionable words. Do a loop through that array and for each value, do an eregi() expression match and use the built in wildcards to replace the vowels on some of the words. Be careful, because it might catch some words you don't mean to. For instance, if you were searching for anything with sht in it, you might stop the bartender for using the name "ShotHead". grin*

Well, I am pretty new to PHP so I think I will just stick to this right now, I havent messed with looping yet, I need to tho im stuck on making the 'prev 1 2 3 next' buttons working, so I might aswell play with some loops
