Dear Group

Connected with my previous question can somebody tell me where the url tag variable would be located on the server once submitted. Can i find this information out ?

I know from the php.ini file where the session variables are stored C:/Windows/Temp
If i pass the url tag variable in such a way that it get stored in this directory then it would surely update the session variable.

Any thoughts or insights from the group would be very kindly received

I should of also said that i have the apache server running with php on my pc under the windows OS.

Can anyone suggest a possible answer to the following problem

I have a page with a link which has a url tag
such as the following example

When the page=1 reaches the server it is my intention to update a session variable of the same name from $page=0 to $page=1,however this does not happen ?

Can anyone suggest why?

i do not know what you are doing in your code. so it is very difficult to say what you are doing wrong.

please tell a bit more about what you are doing in your script(s).

The code i have written is slightly involved
but what i am attempting to do is to alter my site which previously relied heavily on url tagging to storing data on the server using sessions

What i would like to know
is whether i can update a session variable on the server
by tagging the value on the url (?page =1)and sending it to the server when the user clicks on the link which would then update the session variable $page=0 to $page=1.

In principle is this possible?

If possible under what possible circumstances might it not work and insist on keeping its initial value $page=0
(that is the situation i am in ?? )

does the url version of $page=0 go somewhere else maybe..
