seeking method to ftp a directory

Perhaps someone can suggest a way to ftp an entire directory to a different server. I have to transfer a bunch of sites from one linux/apache/php server to another similar server, so I'm looking for a way to automate the process. I checked on php.net but couldn't find a good solution.

Your advice will be GREATLY appreciated.

try to use scp (it's comming with ssh).

You(or someone else) have to install ssh on both machines.

syntax:
scp -r source_dir user@target_machine:target_dir
