shared session

i asked this question before, but it was kind of wrong because the question I asked was not going to work, but here is what i'm trying to do. Have a user upload something to my site, like a news post, i want to let the users comment on it for an hour, after that any user that tries to get in cannot. but that I can do, but how would I go about ending the forum for everybody that was in there? like, can I have a session started by the upload user, and let everybody share the tiem of that session?

Session is per person, at least it is in ASP. Does PHP have the application object? If so, maybe you could set a time out on that.

I'm not sure on that, I know you can name a session and all session files are on the server, which is why I thought you could share them
