session problem

hi everyone,
i encoutered this problem when i tries use session_start()--- Fatal error: Failed to initialize session module in c:\program files\apache group\apache\htdocs\testing\session_id.php on line 2

   can someone explain to me what is going wrong.

From the file path it appears you are develping on windows. use the following

session_path("c:/windows/temp");

This tells PHP to use that folder to store the sesiion variables. Make sure there is a temp folder in c:/windows. It will work. You will nees to remove that line of code before uploading it online.

Look up session_path() in the PHP manual to make sure I got it right, that's from memory and it is way past my bedtime! ;o)

the problem still exists although i followed your instruction.
the error message came out again--Fatal error: Failed to initialize session module in c:\program files\apache group\apache\htdocs\sessions\test2.php on line 2

here is my php.ini setting in php 4. i am using window98, apache and mysql---
