Use PHP to fill DHTML menu

Hi
I am looking towards putting dhtml menus on my site to maximise real estate on the index page and was wondering if anyone has used PHP/mysql to dynamically fill the menu based on what is clicked.

Say if I had golf tournaments that were being played This week/last week/next week...those menu items would not change but when you clicked on them it would query a db and pull out all the tournaments that were on this week and they would fill the second level menu. and the same for last week and next week.

I am sure this is possible but I notice that most of the files that hold the javascript have .js as an extension and i would need .php as say an include i think.

Hi Jason,

You mention that you want the lists to be populated when the buttons/links are clicked. This is not possible due to the way PHP works (it writes the HTML before it appears), so you will have to write the contents of the database before the request, or redirect the user to another page.

It would be easy to create a drop down SELECT box an fill it using a for statement that prints the URLs for the various links with OPTION tags.
