OK, i have a linux intranet server, I have a database of user profiles, just informal things, hobbies, favourite footie team. What we want the users to be able to do is to modify sections of their own profiles. Now ideally we don't want them to have to login to the pages, so what we want to do is to take the local NT user name that they are logged in with, compare it with the one contained in the user profile, if they match they can edit, if not they can't. Now i just cannot find a way of getting this NT username. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
