Getting newlines to work?

Supposedly a simple question.

I am using the mail() function. All works fine until I try use additional headers. I was to to separate the headers by using newlines (\n). The problem is that it writes the \n to the mail server corrupting the mail. eg. Content-type: text/html\n.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

I don't quite follow this--how does it corrupt the mail? Perhaps a bit more explanation and example would help us understand what's happening.

if you're using mail() on m$ platform, you have to use \r\n instead of \n in additional headers.

Okay, corrupting the email might be a bad choice of words.

The problem I'm actually having is I can only send one header, either "From:" or "Content-Type:" , if I try send multiple headers

eg. "Content-Type: text/html\r\nFrom: [e-mail]"

only the Content-Type: will apply and the From: will just write into the body of the email. If I change the order, the first header works, the others just write to the body.

I'm using an Apache box.
Is it possible that the mail server only accepts one header. I do not directly control the mail server!
