Creating a proxy/anonymizer in PHP

i've found many proxy scripts in Perl/CGI but that thing gives me a headache :-) anyone know if one exists in PHP or if not, have you got any starting points for me to create one? (i.e. already existing functions that can grab webpages etc.)
