Question about forms...

Hi everyone,

I don't know if here is the good place to ask that but... I hope somebody will have an answer.

I wondered how it was possible to have a field already selected (when the page is loaded, you don't have to select a field to fill in it, it is already done and you just have to type your login for eg., see http://www.hotmail.com).

Another thing is that on my computer, I can submit the form I have done just by cliking on the "enter" key. But it doesn't work on every PC here. Does anyone know why?

Here you need javscript, javascript, javascript.

Look at www.google.com for a good example for the field selection thing - it's a really short html file with the javascript you need.

In IE you can hit enter to submit a form, but not in netscape. Many sites have a javascript for netscape users that calls the submit routine when that script detects the enter or return key being pressed.

I'll have a look at JS tutorials via google. I wasn't sure it was done with JS because I never found anything about that (field selection).

Regarding to the form submission thanks to the enter key, I didn't think about the browsers' differences although it was obvious (my brain is probably in low :-( ).
