Comparing arrays

I am using php to pull out and list the contents of a database table to a page that will allow the user to post and unpost certain articles via checkboxes listed next to each article. I need to know how to compare what was originally listed as checked when pulled out of the database to what the user changed so i can have the database update accordingly.

you can query the database again and then check the results, or you can store everything in a session the first time around, then check what the user submitted against the session data, and make your update query from that.
