destroy cookies

Hi,

I have a site that i have used cookies to pass the username and password through the secure area so that if there isn't a cookie then you can't view the page (this is my way of security).

However when you logout the cookie is still there and you can log back in with no username and password cause it's remembered.

I don't know enough about sessions to understand how to pass variables through that.

Does anyone know how to destroy the cookie that stores my information when you logout?

destroy_session() doesn't work cause it's not a session.

Any help with sessions would be great

Just reset your cookie using the same name, but with an empty string as the value. The cookie will be automatically deleted when the browser session ends and re-login will be required due to the blank value. For more info, read the set_cookie() section of the PHP Manual. HTH.

cookies are destroyed when set to empty value.

and I recommend you to set a cookie expiration to yesterday's date. - if you close the browser, cookie will be deleted.
