quicker execution of php script

I'm building a Content Management System using php en mysql.
Everything is done with one large admin.php file with an enormous:
switch ($action) {
case "do this": .........;
break;
case "do that": .........;
break;
case "do something else": .........;
break;
etc, etc
}
I have about 3000 lines. Now the big question:
Would my code run quicker if i would use functions in stead of a switch???

If you're doing one file with loads of actions, you're better off spreading it over more files. If you imagine getting a load of hits, PHP will have to read the file many times over and you'll get some serious lag. Either that or get the Zend Cache.
