cursor position in textarea

Hi all,

I have a question (what a surprise):

Is there a way how to find out the position of the cursor in a textarea?

I need it, to fill in some special text at the position of the cursor in an textarea when a user submits a form.

More exactly:

Somebody types following in the textarea:

Hello my name is Andrew!
You have to know, that i'm a damn stupid asp-developer....
------------------>

Now after typing this into the textarea, the user moves the cursor to the position between
"i'm a" and "damn". Then he clicks a submit button and the word >realy< will be inserted at this position.

The result shoud be:
------------------>
Hello my name is Andrew!
You have to know, that i'm a "realy" damn stupid asp-developer....
------------------>

So again... can i get this cursorposition like the mouseposition on an imagesubmit?

do you know how to do this in asp? i don't think this is possible via anything that communicates through http.

maybe with javascript ... but it would totally have to be done on the client-side.

if you can do this in asp, i'd be sincerely interested in how.
