Parsing variable

Hello,

A partner site is calling my script with mypage.php?aff=250210::250999. I need to parse the last 6 numbers after the second: and set it as $aff so I can track it through my site.

Should I use substr(), explode() or is there an easier solution?

i'd use explode() (keeps things simple if the delimiter changes or the length of the codes change)

and then set a cookie with the $aff value that can be read by other pages on the site.
