image resizing.. I know how but...

The problem is that.. people sometimes upload images that are like 2000x1400.. and that is WAY too big to fit on a normal computer screen.
So I need the script to cut down the size. I know how to do that.
But the values the new values for WIDTH and HEIGHT are currently fixed.

I need to make a script that takes the current width(2000) and cuts it down to 800. But I need the HEIGHT to be cut down % to the WIDTH.. so I don't get a deformed image that is 800x1400...

Understand what I mean? I hope you do. Please help me! I'm desperate to get this to work!

You need to perform a small calculation. Namely original width divided by new width. then divide the height by the answer and you get your new height. i.e.

2000/800=2.5

1400/2.5=560

so the new picture is 800x560.

Thanks marks.. I knew that but I needed someone to say it.. my brain is not that great.. it's lacking mathematical thinking.. DUH! LOL..

Anyway.. new script problem
if ($size[0]<800)
I need to if WIDTH is larger than 800 it should run the script..
how do I write it?
