Hi!

I´m currently planing for a site where users should have the opportunety to upload pictures that I then will show both in a galleri with all the users pics and also on a site specially for that user.
On both this sites I wan´t to first show the pics as thumbnails and then when you click on them you should se a bigger version of that pic.
Now I wan´t to know what the best way to do this is?
Should I store the pictures in my database or just a link to them?
Must the user upload two versions (one small and one bigger) or can I transform them into one thumbnail and one bigger pic?

Personaly I like to keep my databases as smal as posible and store pictures in separat files. You could make one folder for tumbnails and one for full size images. You in the database you could just store the filenames, or you could call the images $id.jpg or $id.gif or something like that, and then just store the filetype in the database.

There are a few scripts that automatically covert an image into a thumbnail and saved when viewed. They are both in different directories, so just allow users to upload to a temp dir, then copy it over or upload straight to the directy if you dont want to vet them first. Youll need to use the GD-Lib. Ill send you the scripts
