Can anybody tell me why I get a warning message off the following code.

$htemp = "htmp$m";

$m is increasing within a for loop

$$htemp = $$htemp + $$hother;

This is the error message I get.
Warning: Undefined variable: htemp

The strange thing is the equation completes and gives the correct total but an error message is present. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you get that warning once or every time you do that equation?

Just one time.

In that case it's probably because the first time you do the equation, the var that you are adding to does not exist.

You can avoid such errors by making sure a var exists before you start using it:

if (!isset($$varname))
{
$$varname = 0;
}

// other code

$$varname = $$varname + 1;
