CGI to PHP conversion

I have a cgi script as follows:

#!/usr/local/bin/perl

($username,$adcode) = split(/&/,$ENV{'QUERY_STRING'});
print "Location: http://www.adminder.com/c.cgi?$username&$adcode\n\n";

Not a lot there!

I want to have a php page instead that does the same thing as the cgi script.

Can I do that?

The conversion is quite easy. When a php script is run the variables are already parsed for you so the query string of http://www.somesite.com?uid=12345&num=54321 is ready parsed. when the script runs it is enought just to use the variables. so with the above url the script,

<?php

echo $uid."<BR>";
echo $num;

would result in the values of the two variables being printed on screen you could use something like

<?php

$bits=explode("&", $QUERY_STRING);
$usename=$bits[0];
$adcode=$bits[1];
header "Location: http://www.adminder.com/c.cgi?$username&$adcode\n\n";

should have the same effect as the cgi script that you posted.

The url I can calling the script from is:

www.instantcomputerconsultant.com/track/goto.php?aw12345&iccg2cjob

...so I am not explicitely defining $uid and $num. I am restricted in what I can use because goto.com, which the script is used for, is a bit fussy.

They rejected the goto.cgi url I used and I am hoping they will accept the php code.

Is there an equivalent code that can split up the variables using the url I have given?

the second bit of code should cut up the query string for you.

<?php

$bits=explode("&", $QUERY_STRING);
$usename=$bits[0];
$adcode=$bits[1];
header "Location: http://www.adminder.com/c.cgi?$username&$adcode\n\n";

it will cut the query string into an array called bits. The individual sections can then be used however you need to use them.
