inclusion problems

I'm not sure that this is suitable for posting... but it might help-out someone.

I was unable to find the source of my inclusion error on the forums ("Warning: Failed opening '/usr/local/apache/htdocs/PHP/TEMP/increment_operators.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in Unknown on line 0").

Luckily, I did feret-out the culprit. In my absolute brilliance (I hope that you smell the sarcasm), I changed my umask to 066. So, PHP lacked permission to view the file. Sheer intellectual gold. I chmod'ed to 644 and all is well.

Hopefully, you're all smarter than I.

I get similar problems with require on win32.

Fatal error: Failed opening
required 'nailer.inc' (include_path='.;c:\phpcgiinclude') in nailer.php on line 8

The above is the include path in the php.ini file.

Line 8 of nailer.php reads

require("nailer.inc");

I've put the include file nailer.inc in both the current directory and c:\phpcgiinclude

I've checked the read permissions on the file for the webuser account to be able to read and execute the file and it looks fine.

I'm not a dedicated Windows user, so I don't really know the answer, here. I'd try the following:

hardcode the fully-distinguished filename (e.g., "C:\temp\myfile.php"). If this resolves your problem, then you're having %PATH% problems --check the ENVIRONMENT settings for that user
again for the sake of troubleshooting, make myfile.php read/write/executable to the entire world. You might also attempt to create the file while logged-in as the "webuser." If this resolves your problem, then (obviously) you're having a permissions-based problem.

Of course, try these independently of each other. Good luck...
