I recently encountered the rather bizarre error 0 when using fopen.
After a while I realized that the file it was trying to open was 0 length and had no data what so ever (the file(s) had been created by another peice of software).
Also I noticed that the server it was trying to read off was running iis and I got an internal server error when I tried to load the file through my browser.
Therefore all I did was add:
if(filesize($fName) > 0)
-then open the file
as a check to see if the file has data before opening and the error hasnt shown itself again.
