Strip word from front of text file

Hi there,

Working on a simple chat room using Flash, PHP and a text file. I need to be able to strip the variable "chatText=" from the front of the text file. I've tried searching but can't seem to find how - I'm sure it's easy...

Can someone help?
(and yes, I am a newbie)

If you know for sure that the variable will always have "chatText=" at the beginning, try the following:

$string = "chatText=blah blah blah";
$string = substr($string,9);
// $string equals "blah blah blah"
