server in wrong timezone

ok folks... i got a little problem...

my page and mySql db are located on the f2s server in london - but im here in minneapolis...
so the timestamps - for example on forum posts - are 5 hrs ahead to the actual local time here...

for example if i post here at the local time "2001-09-25 11:35:24am" the displayed date still is "2001-09-25 4:35:24pm" (timestamp: 20010925163524 ).

i already checked out the various time related functions built into php - but for some reason i cant make this work...

im sure someone of you had to deal with this problem before...

Well I haven't got any code for you, but why don't you convert the local time on the machine to GMT and just store everything like that. Then if you have users who log in you could ask for there time zone and automagically convert GMT times to there local times, otherwise you could just display the GMT time and let them do the conversions.
