There are several very good XML tuts on this site. Click on the word "Articles" on the top left column of this page. Scroll down the list to the section entitled XML. You'll see several good ones listed.
As a matter of fact, there is a tutorial that does almost exactly what you're asking. It reads an XML file of news headlines. You can probably cut and paste it and just changes a few lines to meet your needs.
I think it's the XML How-To article. It's very good with lots of examples.
