Redhat 7.1 / PHP / MYSQL

Hello everyone,

After racking my low knowledge unix mind, I have been unable to enable mysql support in PHP. I have tried to install PHP 4.0.6 with MYSQL support and re-compile Apache by I can't get anything to work...

I am a novice when it comes to unix so I am forced to turn for help...

My question is, can the PHP installation with the Redhat 7.1 distrubution be re-configured to support MYSQL. If so can any one help me out here...

IF NOT, can someone explain what my next step my be as I must have MYSQL support in PHP. Can I uninstall php and apache and reinstall them manually.

Any help would be more that appreciated as I am already Bald and I'm starting to pull the hair out out my nose.. 🙂

Actually it's really easy once you know how. I've not installed any new versions of php or mysql but straight from the box it doesn't work, right? So the solution is to just re-install the mysql-php-xxx rpm (could be the other way round) either use the package manager in KDE or cd into the directory containing it and type rpm -Uvh mysql-php-xxx

Should work fine.
If not mail let me know (im in Win98 at the moment) and I'll try to make the details more specific.

Hi,

I have had these problems. I still get errors on functions like "pconnect() and myconnect()"
The alternative what i found is
use "ADODB" for linux. it works well with apache.
