Hello I am trying to create a decent whois lookup and was wondering before I start to put the ax to the grind stone if there was any open source out there to get you started?

I would say that you should look in the source code area before asking the question, but just stating the obvoius. There are some whois source codes in the PHPBUILDER Code Library, I havnt used them so I do now know how useful they will be to you.
