I need to set a cookie that is available from several domains. Is this possible?

The situation is this. I have a client with several shopping sites, but she wants a unified shopping cart system. If one cookie for all four domains is not workable. Any other solutions? I have an idea, but it is kinda cumbersome.

what i did in once was create a framed page, top half the main page, bottom half (actually 0 pixels high) was a script that looped through a list of domains and the file on each would set their cookie and redirect to the next, until the list came to an end. Not elegant, but it was the only thing we could think of atthe time.

I am thinking of the following.

create a "master domain" for the shopping cart.

then from each site, when they click add to cart, i would post to the master domain and when they click continue shopping, return them to the site that they were just on.

I wish that there were a better way to do this. One cookie, accesible by all domains would be the best.

Yea, it was kinda ugly when we did it too (45 sites, if you can beleive it) but it did work. We tried EVERYTHING we could think of (keeping the domain name in the url was mandatory, so a master domain was out of the question). The worst part about it was the document root for all the sites were the same, so that just added to our frustration.
