Content management why a > in MSIE Form

I have a content management tool that puts data from a database into a text area and lets the client update there data for a dynamic web page. Anyways, MSIE puts > at the end bottom of the textarea whether it's blank or full, and if it gets removed it causes the submittal to be blanked out ?? it's fine as long as all data is entered before the symbol. Any way around this ??

how are you writing it? lets see the textarea tag. it should look like this:

<textarea name="name" rows="5" cols="25" wrap="soft">$content</textarea>

Yea, you most likely have an extra > in the html code.
