It's 1969 all the time!

I've got a little problem here. Seems that everytime I try to get away from "military type" dates (2001-10-21), I keep getting December 31, 1969 or 12/31/69 or some other variation of it.

I'm just echoing dates that are entered in different tables in my database by using the following command:

<?php echo DoDateTime( $Recordset1->Fields("story_date"), 'M d, Y') ?>

Unfortunately, thios keeps getting back to groovy tie-dyed days, know what I mean?

How can I fix this little problem and have the dates display correctly? Please be specific, newbie here....

try this:

date("l, F jS, Y",strtotime($Recordset1->Fields("story_date")))

That didn't seem to work as nothing was showing up where the date was supposed to be...

echo date("M d,Y",strtotime("2001-10-21")); I don't know what that doDateTime thing is, you're own function?

Well that works, except that it displays October 10, 2001 all the time instead of pulling the date from the database....

How would I incorporate my table field into it?

The field in question is

$Recordset1->Fields("story_date")

It would help if you showed the actual content of the database field, not how you reference it inside PHP.

The database field enters the date in mm/dd/yy fashion as in, for example, 9/17/2001.

Using MySQLFront, the access to the database shows that format and only accepts that format as the valid entry. Entering 9/17/01 will result in the field being entered with the four-digit year (9/17/2001).

Entering it as 2001-09-17 results in an invalid entry but that is how it is being displayed on the page echoing the database entry.

Thanks guys. The correct way to pull the data and display correctly was:

<?php echo date("M d, Y", strtotime($Recordset1->Fields("story_date"))) ?>

What is being displayed on the page is:

Sep 17, 2001

Did what Allen suggested and replaced the variable in his post.

I'll look into displaying the dates in different formats such as MM/DD/YYYY or having the month's name be in long format (September instead of Sep) That should probably be in the manual...
