can't manipulate variables sent to flash

Hi there

I've got variables happily being passed on demand from my mysql db via php to my flash file, and can display them all as expected.

my problem is that although i can display them, the flash file is to all other intents and purposed unaware that they exist. ie. i can't use them in a script.

i need to use loadVariables to get them rather than URL encoding them because of the number of variables involved and because i don't want to reload the flash movie.

anyone got any ideas?

I've found the answer - I'd been targetting variables within a specific level of the flash movie (ie. &_level101.total=$total), as is conventional in ActionScript. This was the root of the problem.

As soon as i put all calls for variables from the appropriate level, rather than trying to target them in the php, and dropped the _levelxxx., everything went smoothly.

dumb? well, yes - i guess so...
